Sanlam Investments East Africa to Rebrand as SanlamAllianz Investments Following Major Joint Venture

Sanlam Investments East Africa Limited has announced it will officially rebrand to SanlamAllianz Investments Limited, effective September 15, 2025, following the successful completion of a landmark joint venture between two global financial powerhouses.

Historic Partnership Creates Financial Giant

The rebranding comes after the closure of the SanlamAllianz Joint Venture in September 2023, which created a partnership covering 27 African countries with a combined enterprise value of nearly USD 2 billion. This strategic alliance brings together two of the world’s most established financial services groups with over a century of combined expertise.

The Sanlam Group, founded in 1918, brings more than 100 years of African heritage to the partnership. The South African-based company operates across over 30 African countries, serving 20 million customers and employing over 33,000 people continent-wide.

Partnering with Sanlam is the German-headquartered Allianz Group, a global financial services leader serving 126 million customers across more than 70 countries worldwide. Allianz has maintained a presence in Africa since 1912, adding significant international expertise to the joint venture.

What Changes for Customers

As part of the rebranding process, the Sanlam Umbrella Fund Unit Trust Scheme will also be renamed to the SanlamAllianz Umbrella Fund Unit Trust Scheme. Individual fund names will be updated accordingly, including:

  • Sanlam Income Fund becoming SanlamAllianz Income Fund
  • Sanlam Dollar Fund becoming SanlamAllianz Dollar Fund

Digital Transformation Ahead
