More than 2000 entrepreneurs who participated in various training programs at Stanbic Business Incubator Limited (SBIL) between January 2022 and April 2023 have successfully graduated in a ceremony, held at hotel Africana.
Celebrating the completion of training modules in the Stanbic Accelerator Program, Enterprise Development Program, Micro Enterprise Development Program, and Supplier Development Program, Tony Otoa, Chief Executive of Stanbic Business Incubator, emphasized the significance of supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in accessing financial services and skills necessary for their growth and success.
The training focused on three key areas: access to markets, access to finance, and business operational skills. SBIL will continue to support entrepreneurs through networking, market connections, and guidance to enhance their competitiveness both locally and internationally.
SBIL’s Enterprise Development Program, initiated in 2018, has been instrumental in building the capacity of SMEs in Kampala, and in collaboration with the GIZ Employment and Skills for Development in Africa (E4D) program, it has expanded to Gulu and Mbarara districts. The successful partnership has led to further expansion plans covering at least 20 districts through regional branches.
Development partners, including GIZ E4D Uganda, praised the Incubator’s achievements and its contribution to job creation. Emma Mugisha, Head of Business and Commercial at Stanbic Bank, highlighted the importance of training and capacity building in the recovery and survival of businesses, especially during challenging economic times.
The guest of honor, Aga Ssekalala Jr, emphasized the values of honesty, hard work, and integrity in achieving true success as entrepreneurs. Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited, through its subsidiaries, including Stanbic Bank and Stanbic Business Incubator, is committed to supporting entrepreneurs and driving Uganda’s economic growth.
